Feed-In-Tariff

What is the Feed-in Tariff Program?

The Feed-In Tariff Program was developed to encourage and promote greater use of renewable energy sources including on-shore wind, waterpower, renewable biomass, biogas, landfill gas and solar photovoltaic (PV) for electricity generating projects in Ontario. The Independent Electricity System Operator (IESO) administers the Feed-in Tariff Program.

There are two main components to the Feed-in Tariff Program:

  1. microFIT Program – The microFIT Program is open to projects with a rated electricity generating capacity of 10 kilowatts (kW) or less.
  2. FIT Program – The FIT Program is open to projects with a rated electricity generating capacity greater than 10 kilowatts (kW) and generally up to 500 kW.

FIT Projects

You are required to submit a Pre-FIT consultation request for information regarding your potential FIT project prior to applying online to the IESO’s FIT program.
Please email FIT-microFIT@bluewaterpower.com with your Pre-FIT consultation request & provide the address and size of your proposed project.

Please note for FIT and microFIT Projects: The Connection Agreement, Customer Impact Assessment (CIA), connection costs and meter configuration (Bluewater Power does not utilize in-series metering configurations) will be determined through consultation with Bluewater Power and connection costs must be paid in full before work commences. A monthly fixed distribution charge (determined by the Ontario Energy Board) will apply to the project and you will be paid monthly for the electricity generated with prices set by the IESO.
